Is your critical test equipment powered by yesterday's technology? Here's how we engineered a high-performance second life for a vital asset. (Case Study: 6241)

A global leader in the manufacturing of industrial belts and hoses relied on a dynamometer with an aging DC motor and control system for essential product durability testing. To ensure future reliability and enhance performance, they needed a complete upgrade of the drive and control systems while retaining the machine's robust mechanical frame.

The J+H Automation team engineered a comprehensive turnkey retrofit. The project involved shipping the existing equipment to our Hackett, AR facility for a full overhaul. We replaced the obsolete DC motors with powerful new ABB AC motors, controlled by high-performance ABB ACS 880 regenerative drives. The entire test system is now
orchestrated by a state-of-the-art Allen-Bradley CompactLogix PLC, providing precise and repeatable control over every test cycle. Our mechanical engineering team designed custom mounts to seamlessly integrate the new, modern motors onto the existing machine base.

The result is a fully revitalized piece of critical test equipment with dramatically improved reliability, control, and efficiency. This complex upgrade extends the life of a key asset, ensuring our client can continue to perform essential R&D and quality assurance with confidence for years to come.

We specialize in complex retrofits and controls migrations. If you're ready to modernize your legacy systems, let's engineer your success.
