Millwright Field Installation Crew Manager

Full-Time Hackett, AR Base Field Travel Leadership

The role in one line: lead J+H's millwright field installation crews — planning, staffing, equipping, and safety-managing the teams that install conveyor systems, custom machinery, and robotics at customer sites nationwide. Position Overview

We are seeking a Millwright Field Installation Crew Manager to manage and support field installation teams responsible for deploying automated conveyance systems, custom machinery, and robotics solutions. This role combines technical leadership, asset management, and personnel management — all with a continuous improvement mindset.

The ideal candidate is experienced in industrial installation environments and capable of managing multiple crews, coordinating logistics, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring projects are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

Crew Leadership & Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop millwrights and installation technicians
  • Manage hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions
  • Identify skill gaps and implement technical training programs
  • Promote a culture of accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement

Field Operations & Project Execution

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate field installation crews across multiple job sites
  • Manage crews installing conveyor systems, custom equipment, and robotic systems
  • Act as primary escalation point for field issues, troubleshooting mechanical and installation challenges
  • Coordinate with engineering, project management, and field leads to ensure smooth execution

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce all company and jobsite safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure crews comply with company safety training cadence, OSHA regulations, and customer-specific safety requirements
  • Ensure regular job safety assessments, toolbox talks, and incident reviews are completed as required
  • Maintain a proactive approach to hazard identification and mitigation

Logistics & Resource Management

  • Coordinate travel arrangements, per diem, and jobsite logistics for field personnel
  • Manage tools, equipment, and fleet assets, including maintenance and tracking
  • Ensure crews are properly equipped and prepared for each project
  • Optimize labor utilization across projects

Training & Standards

  • Develop and manage both technical skill training and ongoing safety training programs
  • Standardize installation practices and improve field efficiency
  • Support implementation of new technologies, tools, and processes

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial equipment, engineering, maintenance, or a related field
  • 3+ years in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Solid understanding of workplace safety standards and OSHA compliance
  • Ability to work fluently in Office products and online enterprise management software

Preferred

  • Proven ability to manage multiple crews and job sites simultaneously
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, conveyors, and industrial equipment installation
  • Background in industrial automation or robotics
  • Lean or Continuous Improvement training
  • Familiarity with reading mechanical drawings and layout plans
