Case Study: Industry Served: Automotive | Heavy Duty Truck Manufacturing

How do you scale up a complex assembly line without missing a beat?

Here’s how we helped a world-renowned heavy-duty truck manufacturer expand and optimize their engine trim line.

To meet growing production demands, our client needed to increase the throughput of their engine assembly line, which relies on a sophisticated Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) system. The challenge was to expand the existing fleet, enhance its infrastructure, and improve ergonomics—all while minimizing disruption to their ongoing operations.

The J+H Automation Solutions team engineered a multi-phased enhancement of their entire AGV ecosystem. This comprehensive project included:

Expanding the Fleet: Integrating two new AGVs, leveraging robust automated vehicle technology from partners like Daifuku, to increase material flow capacity.
Upgrading Infrastructure: Installing an additional battery charging station to ensure maximum uptime for the larger fleet.
Enhancing Navigation: Installing bar magnets at key turns to ensure precise and reliable AGV tracking throughout the facility.
Improving Ergonomics: Installing an overhead Gorbel ergonomic rail system, which gives technicians easy access to tooling and parts at their workstations.

The entire expanded system, including crucial safety scanner updates from Keyence, is managed through extensive PLC and HMI modifications, all orchestrated by a powerful Allen-Bradley control system.

The result is a more robust, higher-capacity assembly line capable of meeting future production targets. The client benefits from increased throughput, greater system reliability, and a safer, more ergonomic environment for their skilled technicians.

We solve problems by building world-class automation. If you're ready to engineer your success and scale your operations, let's talk about your next project.
